It is with deep sadness that we learn former Eastern Football League media personality Shaun Kelly tragically passed away today, aged 37.

Shaun was a well-respected and much-loved member of the EFL and wider communities, devoting countless hours into producing highly entertaining radio and video coverage.

Beginning as an EFL Media Team volunteer in the early 2000s, Shaun’s presence and passion for all things sport helped significantly evolve the League’s media landscape, later serving as the EFL’s Radio & Video Manager in season 2011.

Shaun’s impeccable knowledge would prove invaluable, where he was always happy to teach and impart his knowledge onto new EFL Media Team members learning the craft.

His unique wit and sense of humour was often heard and seen on EFL Game-Day, EFLTV, The Huddle and EFL Sunday, while his unwavering commitment to producing quality written content with his trademark ‘Friday Preview’ made for weekly in-depth analysis on EFL.org.au.

Shaun would later go on to work in marketing roles at Queensland Cricket, followed by AFL Goldfields where he subsequently founded his own successful business, On Deck Media, also serving as the digital media manager at the Greater Western Victoria Rebels.

Above all, Shaun was a generous, friendly and much-loved individual and will be sorely missed.

The Eastern Football League extends its sincerest, heartfelt condolences to Shaun’s wife, Sarah, and the Kelly family.

Vale Shaun Kelly, November 7 1980 – April 7 2018.
