Premier Division

East Burwood Black 62 def. FTG Eagles Blue 56

Oakleigh District 73 def. Croydon 68

Two big results in the Premier Division see the ladder make a few changes and the top five continue to even up as we approach finals.

Oakleigh District moves into second position on the ladder after defeating Croydon by five goals. Emma Ryde was hard to stop for Oakleigh as she scored 53 of the side’s goals on Friday Night, now moving up to second position on the leading goal shooters table. The leader is Croydon’s Ellarnah Hanlen who overtook teammate Tayla Burrell, with 43 on the night.

The match was incredibly tight, with less than one goal between the two sides at both Half Time and Three-Quarter Time. Ella Rees played a strong game in defence, particularly in the final quarter as Oakleigh managed to hold on for a five-point victory.

East Burwood were also big winners on the night, closing the gap on the top-four with a six-goal win over the Eagles. The last quarter saw East Burwood steam ahead, 18 goals to 12. Gabrielle Clarke has been outstanding this season in defence, her form continued this week, keeping Ferntree Gully shooters to reasonable numbers.

The win comes at a great time for East Burwood who can jump into the top four if they defeat Vermont next week, depending on other results as well.
