Boronia Junior Football Club president Ellisa Schmidtke spoke to EFL Media ahead of season 2018, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water and Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

Ellisa Schmidtke: There is always room for improvement. I think in my first year as president, families understood where the club was at and the standards at which we want to work with.  We would desperately like more members and teams, but this is proving harder and harder and we don’t know why.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

ES: We are hoping to field eight – six boys, one girls and one women’s.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

ES: It’s been good, but there’s constant concern about team numbers.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

ES: Our under-17s team – they made it to the grand final last year and have a good team going into this season.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

ES: Under 9s, 10s, 13s and 14s.

If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?

ES: Contact me, Ellisa Schmidtke – 0417 593 884.
