IT is with great regret that the has EFL accepted the resignation of Media Manager Ben Waterworth.

He leaves the EFL to take up a position within the News Corp online AFL department.

EFL CEO Phil Murton praised Waterworth’s contribution during his time with the league.

“Ben has been a rising star in the media team, first as a volunteer and for the past two years as fulltime Media Manager,” Murton said.

“While we knew his talents meant he wouldn’t be with us for too long and we are sad to see him go, we are grateful for the wonderful contribution he has made to the development of the EFL Media platforms in his time with us and wish him all the best with his new opportunity.

“It’s a great reflection that the experience offered and gained in the EFL Media department has given Ben this opportunity, like others before him.”

Waterworth thanked the league for the opportunities he had been given over the past five years.

“I am eternally grateful to Rob Sharpe, Phil Murton and the EFL administration and board for giving me the opportunity to work in such a fantastic environment, doing what I love doing. It has been my absolute pleasure and privilege to work for this league,” he said.

“A massive thanks to [Broadcast Manager] Ben Warren-Smith and the entire EFL Media Team, who have given me the best support, not just over the past two years, but the three years before that when I was a volunteer. Without them, EFL media would not be what it is today and I will dearly miss being part of the team.

“I especially want to thank the coaches, players, umpires and all club volunteers for their accessibility and willingness to promote themselves over the past few years. It has been a wonderful and enriching experience to mix with such passionate local footy people. They are what makes this league so strong.”

Ben will finish with the EFL on the weekend of Round 1 (5 April).

The search for Ben’s replacement will commence immediately through Seek.
