The league is thrilled with a record number of Junior Umpires that have signed up and registered ahead of the 2023 season.
This year, training is held twice a week in the pre-season at the Croydon Grid Iron field, Mondays, and Wednesdays. A great opportunity for kids new to umpiring to learn and develop and their umpiring skills and make new friends in a fun environment.
Our junior umpires are well looked after by junior Umpire Coaches who do a great job in teaching the basics of umpiring with enjoyable training drills through the ‘Flags and Whistles’ program.
New Umpires will learn not just how to umpire but to also have the chance to experience the game from another point of view, stay fit and help improve their own game, all while earning money.
Parents are welcome to attend and watch training from the new facilities.
Numbers at these pre-season training sessions have been stronger than ever, it’s been fantastic to see so many new faces giving umpiring a go for the first time.
