Kilsyth Junior Football Club president Danny Lamb spoke to EFL Media ahead of season 2018, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water and Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

Definitely. With a continued growth in teams and members and several of our teams pushing up into higher divisions as well as multiple sides representing Kilsyth in finals series it was a hugely successful year at our club.

The growth of girls football at our club is very exciting as well.  Overall, the engagement of our members with off-field activities was fantastic.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

DL: We anticipate we will have 14 teams in total this year, including four girls teams, and every age group in the boys competition, for the first time in our club’s history. We will also have two under-17 boys teams which is very exciting.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

DL: With lots of new players, coaches, trainers, etc. there is lots of work to do but like always we are very excited about the first bounce because that will be the reward for all the hard work in the off-season.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

DL: A tough call as we are fortunate enough to have some very strong sides and coaches throughout our club but I think our under-12 girls as well as our under-15 boys are in a really good position to be super competitive this year.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

DL: We have space across all our age groups currently but we are very keen to find some more under-8 boys and under-14 girls.

If any players are interested in playing for Kilsyth this season, what do they have to do?

DL: Look us up on Facebook  “Kilsyth Juniors” or on our website www.kilsythfootballclub.com.au/Juniors or contact junior president – Danny Lamb on 0419 348 669 or our junior registrar – Bonnie Isbester on 0411 406 443.

We are a very approachable and inclusive club that welcomes new players and their families. We also offer free registration to all first year players to our club.
