Senior Women’s, Veteran’s, and Netball Section 4-8 Grand Finals
Welcome to Grand Final Day and Night for the Deakin Senior Women’s, BJS Men’s and Deakin University Women’s Veterans football competitions and the Bendigo Bank Section 5-8 Netball. Four Netball Premierships will be won on Friday night and eight Football Premierships will be up for grabs on Saturday with four games being played across two venues, HE Parker Reserve and Quambee Reserve.
It has been a wet lead into the weekend but with fine weather predicted and no AFL matches on over the weekend we can expect large crowds in attendance at all finals venues. With a full schedule of Senior Men’s finals this weekend, the league has adjusted the game day schedules to better accommodate club supporters attending multiple finals matches on the Saturday.

In 2022 the Women’s competition expanded to six divisions with seven teams joining the competition bringing us to 36 teams in total. Those new teams figure prominently with Eastern Devils (Premier and Division Four), East Burwood and Vermont (Division Four) all making it to the Grand Final in their first season in the League.
Congratulations and best of luck to all teams, players, coaches, and officials for making it to the Grand Final. A significant effort given the challenges and disruptions caused by COVID-19.
In equally good news, all Grand Finals will be live streamed via YouTube, with the games played at H.E Parker also on our Facebook.
Our Veterans’ men’s and women’s competitions will close out Grand Final day with a twilight finale.
Our Women’s competition is still in the initial stages and the league is seeking more clubs to enter an over 35’s team for the 2023 season. With the goal to grow the competition to four, six and then eight teams into the future.

You have done an amazing job offering up your facilities, supporting finals teams, providing hospitality, and taking care of our umpires. Our umpires play a key role on Grand Final Day and for them this will be a significant milestone in their umpiring journey.
A big thank you to our GM Football Operations Dyson Baker for managing all our Senior competitions. No doubt as the Grand Finals are won and lost on Saturday there will be a sense of relief as each game completes. Thank you also to the rest of the EFNL team for their support in bringing finals to fruition.
Good luck to all teams and remember, whether you’re a player, official or supporter, please ensure you behave yourself in an appropriate manner so that everyone that attends a Grand Final has a wonderful day.
There is no place for any abuse towards umpires, players, and spectators at any EFNL matches.
