ERCA COACH OF THE MONTH | JUNE

Congratulations to the following coaches who have been named recipients of the Eastern Region Coaches Association’s Coach of the Month for June…

Senior Coach – Luke McCormick (South Croydon)

With Luke’s previous stint at Eastern Ranges coaching and a distinguished playing career, he has brought that knowledge and experience of football from a higher level and has been able to add this effectively to South Croydon’s game plan from last year.

Luke has that ability to know when to deliver the right message and has that connection with players to keep it fun at the same time as having a very professional set up. Having a teaching background has been an asset of Luke’s and his planning is second-to-none, putting in an enormous amount of time planning (especially over pre-season). From committee down to players, Luke has been well-received since day one. Taking on a role that many would have found too much of a challenge, Luke is getting better and better each week especially with the challenges of selection and managing a large playing list.

Auskick Coach – Brad Eley (Croydon Blues Auskick)

Brad took on the role of Auskick coordinator to help with the development of all kids and to encourage their path towards junior football at Croydon Junior Football Club. Brad helped last year and saw huge potential in the club. CJFC’s 2018 Auskick program run by Brad has been well-received, with strong numbers and great attendances at all sessions this season. Our program is growing in strength and we are hopeful of fielding an U8s team in season 2019 thanks to the efforts of Brad and all his helpers at this season’s CJFC Auskick.

Junior Coach – Paul Harman (Blackburn) Under-10 and Under-13

Paul’s extensive experience as a player, assistant and coach has enabled him to effectively pass down his knowledge to the teams he coaches. Paul demonstrates great communication skills, brief and to the point. His ability to keep the young players engaged is outstanding. Paul is highly-regarded at the Blackburn football Club. So much, the club approached him to coach U13s as well as U10s, which fortunately for the club he accepted and has done an outstanding job for both teams.

Youth Coach – Scott Barnes (Norwood) Under-18 Girls

Scott has been fantastic for the girls this year. He is always looking for new ideas to keep the girls focused and engaged, constantly trying out different drills. Scott is extremely well-received by players and parents and always has time to listen to the girls and parents and makes time with the families after the games to have a chat to individuals. He shows outstanding commitment through supporting his team by turning up to coaching, games and social events, even when severely injured.

Youth Coach – Jamie Prendergast (The Basin) Under-16 Girls

Jamie has good communication skills, relaying clear messages to the girls on how to play the game. Jamie creates a calm learning environment that is ideal for player development. Jamie’s commitment to his coaching and developing himself is outstanding. He has attended several coaching courses and delivering it to the girls in perfect detail. He has a positive pleasant and engaging manner and well-respected by all.
