The end is nearing and your EFL netballers are playing their best netball yet, with some teams still working their way into contention for a season 2018 finals appearance.
Starting with Premier/Premier Reserve, Blackburn were able to get a comfortable win against Mulgrave. They were led by Moore and Domingo in the goal circle to secure their 51-34 win. Wantirna South Devils Reserve look to stay off bottom of the ladder with a win over Montrose, 43-36. After their first loss, Fairpark bounced straight back onto the winners list beating Scoresby 22 goals. A massive 44 goals to Boronia’s Rush meant they were able to stay on top of Norwood for a 60-38 win. Woodgate again stared for Wantirna South Devils with 51 goals which set her side up for a 17-goal win against Lilydale.
Looking at Division 1, Heathmont ‘s Goulding shot 26 goals in her side’s nine-goal win against North Ringwood. South Croydon doesn’t want to lose their top spot, they defeated Forest Hill, 39-17, Sands with 25 goals for the game. Kilsyth were able to get a bit of a percentage booster after they beat Coldstream, 40-24. Scoresby’s five goal win against Blackburn meant that Blackburn remain firmly on the bottom of the ladder. Knox look to be a strong side come finals time after they defeated Park Orchards, 35-23, Teunissen had a big game scoring 25 goals.
Division 2 is shaping up to be a closer race for finals, Croydon remain in the top four after their win against Ringwood, 30-21, Thomas with 21 for the game. Lilydale were able to just get over the line against Kilsyth by just one goal. Knox are trying to creep their way into the top after a two-goal win against Norwood, Gibson with a contribution of 26 goals. Forest Hill had a comfortable win against Wantirna, 34-18. Ferntree Gully’s strong game led to their 32-goal win over Park Orchards, Gully had 5 different goal scorers for the game. Vermont still remain firmly on top after their 13-goal win against The Basin, Vermont led by Phillips in the goal circle with 31 goals.
In Division 3, Upper Ferntree Gully were able to remain in fourth position on the ladder after defeating Mulgrave, 28-23. Ringwood were led by Sheath in the goal circle who scored 21 of their 35 goals in their win over Kilsyth. Waverley Blues were able to add another win to the board after they beat Norwood, 30-21, Glare shooting 19 goals for the game.
To Division 4, Forest Hill were able to stay on top of Nunawading for all four quarter to defeat them by 12 goals with Cowan shooting 21 goals. In a close one, Heathmont were able to stop a strong comeback by South Belgrave to just get the win by one goal. In another tight game, it was Lilydale who upset Upper Ferntree Gully by one goal. Another thrilling finish lead to North Ringwood keeping their top four spot after beating Wantirna South by just one goal. Steady goaling games from Anderson and Eastman lead to a Glen Waverley win against Coldstream, 45-18.
Over in Division 5, South Croydon were able to secure the win against Wantirna South by four goals. In a top four clash, it was Norwood who were far too strong for Heathmont with Gray scoring 30 goals in Norwood’s 24 goal win. Mitcham remain in fourth position on the ladder after their two-goal win against The Basin. Ringwood’s two goal win against Coldstream Black means Coldstream are the side to hold up the ladder. E. Jakobs and M. Jakobs just too good in the goal circle which meant they set up Coldstream White’s win over South Belgrave, 39-14.
In Division 6, Knox were able to get the four points against Scoresby after a four-goal win. Glen Waverley upset top placed Mulgrave by five goals with Poulton shooting 22 goals for the game. Norwood was led by Prosenak’s 26 goals to set them up for their 42-17 win over Coldstream. Nunawading remain to a be a team to beat come finals time after they defeated Ferntree Gully, 26-12. Theron’s 22 goals for Lilydale helped her side get over the line against The Basin, 28-16 and Montrose closed out the round with a two-goal win against Park Orchards.
Looking ahead, expect to see some finals like games be played on Friday night. Across Divisions 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 you will see a range of top four clashes take place these games will shape up what the finals series will be like come the following weeks. For Premier/Premier Reserve through to Division 2, they will have two rounds left of the home and away season whilst for Divisions 3 through to 6 will play their last round Friday night.
