BOOB ARMOUR today announced it has signed on as a partner of the Eastern Football Netball League for season 2021.

Australian-owned and operated, BOOB ARMOUR is designed to protect breasts and prevent injury in women and girls playing impact and hardball sports including Australian Rules Football, Netball, Basketball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Hockey and Cricket.

Suzie Betts, BOOB ARMOUR Founder and Managing Director, said: “As Australia’s largest metropolitan football league, with such large female participation numbers in both football and netball, the Eastern Football Netball League is the perfect fit for BOOB ARMOUR.

“We are thrilled to be backing such a professional and successful league and supporting talented female athletes across two codes.”

BOOB ARMOUR, which is officially licensed by the AFL/AFLW, was launched in 2020 with one overriding ambition: to give more women and girls the confidence to play impact sports while protecting their breasts from injury.

“There’s plenty of research evidence showing that impact to the breast can result in deep bruising and the formation of hard lumps in the breast tissue. Too many of us are unaware of the problem and underestimate the occurrence of breast injuries,” Ms Betts said.

“BOOB ARMOUR is committed to protecting females playing contact sports and giving them confidence to play at their best without fear of injury to their breasts during play or training.”

The partnership with the Eastern Football Netball League will see BOOB ARMOUR affiliated with its four women’s football divisions and the league’s junior girls finals series. The focus of the partnership is to provide female players with knowledge and protection from breast injury.

AFLW stars and BOOB ARMOUR ambassadors Libby Birch and Monique Conti, both advocates for wearing breast protection during contact sport, will engage with ENFL players during the season.

Libby Birch said: “Since becoming a physio, I am more aware of the impact on breasts during contact sports. We mark the ball on our chest, we get bumped, kicked and shoved during play, but wearing breast protection gives me confidence to know my breasts are being protected from injury and impact, today and into the future.

“BOOB ARMOUR is a product that helps parents and girls feel more comfortable and confident about contact sport, and we need to do everything we can to keep girls playing. So it’s important to learn to protect our body parts from a young age.”

ENFL Commercial Manager, Mark Freeman, said: “We are thrilled to welcome BOOB ARMOUR on board as a partner of the ENFL. “It’s great to know there is a product on the market that provides female players with greater choice about injury protection when they play and train.”

BOOB ARMOUR consists of inserts made from soft but strong polyethylene just two millimetres thick. They extend around the underarm for added protection, stabilise the breasts into position, and can be easily inserted in a sports bra.
