Welcome to Grand Final weekend for the Eastland Division Three & Four Men’s and the Bendigo Bank Section 1-4 Netball. Four Netball Premierships will be won on Friday night and six Football Premierships will be up for grabs across the weekend. Finals continue in Division One and Division Two moving into Preliminary finals and our Premier competition enters Qualifying and Elimination finals stage. A full weekend of sudden death football with a handful of teams in our Premier competition having a second chance.
Congratulations and best of luck to all teams, players, coaches, and officials for making it to their respective Grand Finals. A significant effort given the challenges and disruptions caused by COVID-19. This weekend Ringwood and East Burwood will host Grand Finals, along with playing the Division Two Preliminary Final.
Host clubs along with their volunteers have done an amazing job providing facilities and hospitality, supporting finals teams, and taking care of our umpires. Without host club support and their volunteers, the finals simply would not come to fruition.
Our umpires also play a key role on Grand Final Day and for them this will be a milestone in their umpiring journey. Please ensure that the umpires are treated with respect and are not subject to any form of abuse so they too can have an enjoyable experience.
This weekend there are three venues operating on Saturday and three on Sunday which indicates that the season is heading towards its climax. The 2022 season will be fully completed in 15 days and the Chandler Medal night will be held in the lead up to the Premier Grand Final. This year it will bring together all Senior participants and will recognise the achievements of individuals over the course of the season.
To the clubs who won Senior Women’s Football Premierships (Eastern Devils, Whitehorse, Rowville, Knox, East Burwood, and Vermont) and to our Premiership Netball Teams (Vermont, Coldstream, Heathmont, and The Basin) and Veterans Football Premiers (Coldstream and Mooroolbark) congratulations.
Good luck to all teams and remember, whether a player, official or supporter, please ensure you behave yourself in an appropriate manner so that everyone that attends the Grand Final has a wonderful day. There is no place for any abuse towards umpires, players, and spectators at any EFNL matches.
Best of luck to all participating teams and enjoy a weekend full of community Netball and Football.
