THE Lysterfield Junior Football Club has appointed Darren Perry to the newly created role of Coaching and Team Development Coordinator for season 2014.
Perry will assist the coaches in the competitive age groups by using game and player development that is in-line with the club’s philosophy and team goals.
Wolves president Steve Ketzer believes Perry’s appointment will be a massive benefit to the coaches and players of all age groups at the club.
“As the club has evolved and grown in the last four years since its inception, there have been some experience and knowledge gaps in the football department that were becoming apparent. This gap was challenging to bridge as we didn’t have a senior football club to draw experience and knowledge from,” Ketzer said.
Perry brings a wealth of senior coaching experience to the role.
He coached Scoresby’s reserves side in 2012 and 2013, while also having an involvement with the senior side at the same time. He has also had coaching stints at Melton South, Beechworth, Myrtleford and West Footscray.
Ketzer says Perry’s extensive experience will benefit the club’s development in the coming years.
“Darren is passionate about assisting the club during this important phase. His philosophy of enjoyment, involvement and a belief in improvement – team and individual – mirrors that of the club.”
Lysterfield Football Manager Dean Arundell is excited by Perry’s ideas for the club.
“Darren’s 2014 strategy of running an in-house pre-season boot camp and sports performance program for junior athletes, led by Rowville Physiotherapy, demonstrates how serious the Wolves are about developing both teams and players, whilst having fun,” Arundell said.
Any players interested in joining the Wolves for season 2014 are encouraged to register by downloading a registration form on www.lysterfieldjfc.org.au.
Pre-season training has already commenced for some of the older age groups, however new players are always welcome.
