WEFL IN 2015 – A SUCCESS!

Chirnside Park FC was transformed last Wednesday as it hosted the second Women of the EFL function for 2015.

Being the 10th year of the WEFL, the committee – headed by Jo Hart-Parker – thought it apt to celebrate the women who hold a range of roles from across the league.

More than 80 women from all EFL clubs gathered to network, share ideas and a meal and hear from the likes of Katrina Stopinski (EFL umpire), Tracy Cornish (Chirnside Park FC junior president) and Karen Moore (Wantirna South secretary and EFL vilification mediator) about their experiences in local football.

It was also great to welcome the EFL’s newest staff member, Ellie Ingwersen, as the league’s new netball, events and administration coordinator, along with EFL Media Manager Dyson Baker who came along for his first WEFL event. It’s always nice for volunteers to be able to put a face to a name (or an email address!) so we really appreciate your attendance.

The feedback from the evening was fantastic and it was great to see so many ladies sharing ideas about fundraising, player recruitment, assisting volunteers and week-to-week running of clubs. There was, of course, also plenty of footy chat with junior finals upon us and senior finals looming!

Thank you to Chirnside Park FC president Justin Carusi for offering the clubrooms to host the event and also a number of players who manned the bar for the evening. Hillard’s provided a beautiful two-course meal for the ladies which was enjoyed by all.

Thank-you to Jo for all of her hard work in putting the evening together – next year will roll around before we know it!

Lastly but certainly not least, a very big thank you goes to all who attended. The Women of the EFL will also host two functions in 2016, so make sure you stay tuned to the EFL website and social media channels for more information.

Best of luck for the rest of the season and, hopefully for you, finals!
