THE EFL kicked off the season in spectacular style under lights at Bayswater Oval last Friday night.
Ash Vandelaak kicked off the 2014 season with the first as Bayswater took a handy 9 point lead into quarter time. The second term not as kind as Mulgrave banged on four goals to the Waters’ one behind to give the Lions an 18 point lead at the main break.
Bayswater fought back well in the third term but could only bring the margin back to 14 points, in some ways surprising they were still in the contest.
The Lions pulled away in the final term to run out 11.13.79 winners to the Waters 8.6.54. Adam Booth doing the most damage on the night for Mulgrave with 3 majors.
It wasn’t just the game that had people talking, with the spectacle that was provided and the turnout of fans from all around the league the question was asked ‘Should there be more night football?”
If the attendance alone didn’t give you the answer, all the fans were full of praise for night football and wanted more of it. Some going as far to say they would like to see it every week of the season.
All in all a fantastic night and even better way to open the 2014 EFL Season
