While every club in the Eastern Football League has been slaving over dust bowls and putting countless kilometres in on the training track, so to have our umpires. Training commenced in early February with numbers steadily increasing each session as our umps look to prepare for the 2016 season. EFL Head of Umpiring Darren Goldspink has been happy with the personnel on the track stating, “Numbers have increased over the past couple of weeks which is positive, the commitment level has been extremely pleasing.” Goldspink added that 15-20 new umpires have already made their way to training to be part of the group in 2016, “At least 20 new faces already including some real talent, we are in a really good position at this stage of the year” While numbers are good at the moment the EFL is always on the lookout for more whistle blowers.
