Staffing Changes at EFL House

We are pleased to announce Matthew Young has been appointed to the EFL/AFL Victoria Football Development Manager (FDM) role.

Having grown up in the east and played junior footy at Mooroolbark JFC, Matthew, who has a Bachelor of Sports Management, joins the league having previously worked as Game and Market Development Coordinator with AFL Northern Territory, a role that involved managing the operations of Schools and Auskick Programs across the NT. He has also been involved in Club Services with the AFL and with the Community Engagement and Multicultural Programs with AFL Victoria. Matthew started with the EFL on Thursday February 23.

As part of further changes to game development, Sean Buncle, who in 2016 worked as Region Development Officer, has been elevated to an FDM role also and the portfolios will be shared across Sean and Matthew. This will allow for increased club and game development responsibilities for both FDM’s.

These changes are part of continued investment by the EFL and AFL Victoria into Game Development in Melbourne’s East to ensure as many people as possible across the east are engaged in Aussie Rules.

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Cencic as the new EFL Media Manager.

Cencic, who has a Bachelor of Journalism from Monash University, is familiar to many in the East having been a part of the EFL media team from 2011-2015, including winning the Clinton Grybas Award for best media talent in 2012 and penning the Trojan Young Gun columns which were nominated for an AFL Victoria Media Award.

More recently he was an integral part of the NFL’s on-air team that won Best Match Day Coverage at the 2016 AFL Victoria Community Football Awards.

Outside of football, Cencic has written regularly for golf.org.au, the official website of Golf Australia, been an AFL Content Producer for Sportingbet.com.au, and most recently has been Media and Communications Officer at Rowville Secondary College, a role that has seen him rebuild the school’s website, manage internal and external communications, and be actively involved in the organisation and delivery of presentation and awards nights.

Cencic will start in the role on Wednesday March 15.
