SHARKS COMPLETE STELLAR SEASON

Doncaster has capped off an incredible Division 2 season with a comprehensive win over local rivals Doncaster East!

The Sharks came into the game off the back of a 112 point thumping of Croydon in the Second Semi Final and were lifted by the return of key mid Ben Johnson following a ham string injury late in the season.

Doncaster East had shown glimpses of brilliance through the 2015 season, and had shown their could be a contender in the final three weeks of the year.

The Sharks got the perfect start, winning the toss and kicking with a heavy breeze in the opening term, Nathan Thompson put on a clinic slotting Doncaster’s total score by the first break registering four goals as the Sharks went in with a hand 23 point buffer.

After quarter time Doncaster East had plenty of chances to get back into the contest but missed kicking and poor disposal saw them goalless at the half, meaning that in two finals, Doncaster hadn’t had a goal kicked against them.

The second half was comfortably won by a rampaging Doncaster who, whilst not scoring heavily still controlled territory and disposal counts for most of quarters 3 and 4.

In the end a comfortable win by 45 points, the clubs third Senior Premiership since 2011 (2011, 2013 Div 3, 2015 Div 2).

The Win also see’s Doncaster back into the top flight for the first time since 1992. Doncaster4.1-255.3-338.4-5211.7-73Doncaster East0.2-20.5-52.7-193.10-28
