EFL ANNOUNCES 36-MAN INTERLEAGUE SQUAD
By EFL Media
Eastern Football League senior coach Brett Moyle has revealed the 36 players who will potentially line-up at Simonds Stadium against the Geelong Football League on May 21.
The squad, listed below, is a mixture of youth and experience with Moyle focused on creating the best possible team to represent the league. “We wanted to spread the squad over positions, based on early season form a number of players have put their hand up.
“We have a solid mix of youth and experience, guys like [Stewart] Kemperman and Matty Bate are leaders on the own right and will be part of the coaching panel as well.”
Whether they be new to the league or in form early in the season, the squad features a number of players that won’t be all that familiar to the wider EFL public, however Moyle feels his coaching staff have made the most of the three weeks they have had to assess players “Part of the challenge is being able to select guys that are playing their first season with the league and factoring them in to select right side around that.
“A number of players new to the league have been in form early in the season, we have been around to a number of games as well as watching game vision to ensure we don’t miss anyone.” Moyle Said.
The key for the league over the past two seasons has been picking a balanced line-up, a genuine combination between height and speed, focused on picking players in positions.
“We need to pick guys in positions, it’s not like a side on paper where we can slot the 5th best mid into the small forward position, especially when there are guys who can play that position.
“The squad is based around players playing a role, each guy that gets selected will have a job to do.”
The squad will meet May 4 for a team dinner and a chance to bond prior to commencing training on Wednesday May 11.
Further details regarding game details will be announced in the coming weeks.
