The East Burwood Rams are in good form, as they ready themselves to face the 7th placed Glen Waverley Hawks this weekend after a crucial win against a fellow top four side in Donvale last weekend.
The Rams will seek to attain their sixth win of the season as they look to jump into yet another finals series, with the Rams one of few sides to put a decent score on the board against the Magpies, kicking 12 goals in their crucial win last weekend.
Although the game against Donvale ended with a 38 point margin, the Rams were having difficulty within the first quarter as the Rams were only able to score two points before the second term began and the attacking game style of the Rams took a stronghold.
As the match progressed there were more moments of footballing skill and courage from Kyle Grenda and Lewis Neate that indicated the Rams were beginning to take hold of the contest, with both players kicking multiple goals on Saturday.
The win puts the Rams third on the ladder, close to first spot and in a secure position to be in the finals.
Senior coach Stuart Wynd, says that the win is significant, and increases confidence and enthusiasm within the side, with the recent lockdown occurring just as the Rams were heading into a lean patch.
“Well before the lockdown we had lost three in a row against three good sides, so the break came at a good time for us to get a couple of guys back that were injured prior to the break and if we can keep them healthy, we think we can be quite competitive against most sides.”
Speaking about their opponent this weekend, Wynd was wary of a refreshed Glen Waverley side.
“They have got a strong midfield and I would say they would be full strength having the bye last week so it is going to be a tough game but we are certainly looking forward to it.”
Wynd says the momentum and return of some key players will be good for the side.
“Most games you get a bit of momentum and you have to make the most of it, while you have got that, you have to make the most of it and we did that on Saturday against Donvale.”
“It was a pretty complete performance and we were quite happy with our win against a good side.”
