New General Manager Appointed

The EFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Swainston as the leagues new General Manager- Football & Game Development.

Swainston brings to the role a wealth of football and corporate experience. A former VFA player with Oakleigh and Box Hill and a three time EFL senior premiership player at Waverley Blues, he has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Swainston joins the EFL from technology firm Make-It-Mine, where he was General Manager, was previously Managing Director of Taylor Made-Adidas Golf (Pacific Area), and has also been a member of the EFL Board since May 2014, a position he stepped down from to apply for this role.

CEO Phil Murton said the league were thrilled to have someone of Swainston’s caliber join the leagues administration.

“Troy brings to the role a great background in football along with an intimate knowledge of the league at both senior and junior level”, Murton said. “In addition, at a time of change in the league’s administration, he brings a wealth of senior management expertise which will prove invaluable as the league continues to grow”.

As part of Swainston’s appointment, he will oversee Football Operations and Game Development, with Manager Junior Football Dyson Baker and Football Development Managers Sean Buncle and Matthew Young reporting to him.

Troy will start in his new role in early April. In the interim, CEO Phil Murton will manage Football Operations.
