41 DAYS TO GO | East Burwood junior president Libby Hadjiloukas spoke to EFNL Media ahead of the 2020 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water & Choose Tap.
Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2019?
Libby Hadjiloukas: We had a great 2019, we had all of our competitive teams make finals with the 2019 rule of top six teams competing in finals, our under-17 team made it to the grand final and played an amazing game, unfortunately it just wasn’t their day.
It was impressive to see all of our families come out and support all out teams through the 2019 season and we are looking forward to an even bigger 2020.
Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2020?
LH: We are hoping for 12 teams and this will include and under-18 girls team, this has been a monster effort to pull this team together by one of our coaches, Jarrod Stafford.
What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?
LH: Pre-season has been pretty good – we have a great vibe at the club. All of our top age teams have been training now since February 1 and the players are super keen to get the season started.
If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?
LH: This would be a hard choice but I know our new under-11 team that will be competing competitively in 2020 is very keen to make it all the way through to finals. They are great group of kids and have a great coaching team that have been with them over the last couple of years growing their skills and it’s evident when you watch them play.
Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?
LH: Our under-15 boys and under-17 boys could do with some more players and we would welcome any girls who would like to join our under-18s girls team to come along and have a go.
If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?
LH: Please make contact with Libby via email ebjfcsecretary@gmail.com for any queries.
