#INFOCUS2020 | BLACKBURN JFC

40 DAYS TO GO | Blackburn junior president Spencer Wilson spoke to EFNL Media ahead of the 2020 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water & Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2019? Spencer Wilson: Yes – with three girls drafted to the AFLW and plenty of teams making grand finals, 2019 proved a solid year for Blackburn. Off field, we managed to run all our social functions despite the lack of facilities.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2020? SW: 24 teams – seven girls teams and 17 boys teams.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season? SW: Extremely positive. The senior and junior clubs are coming together, and expectations are high as we look forward to moving into our new club rooms.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season? SW: Hard to pick one – either one of the under-15s or one of our under-16 girls teams.

Blackburn’s under-12A outfit celebrates its 2019 premiership.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

SW: We are in a good position for most age groups.

If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do? SW: Jump on to our website, Blackburn junior registrations.
