#InFocus2019 | GLEN WAVERLEY ROVERS

23 DAYS TO GO | Glen Waverley Rovers president Paul Van Suylen spoke to EFL Media ahead of the 2019 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water & Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2018?

Paul Van Suylen: We were extremely satisfied with season 2018 which was capped off with our under-16 girls winning the premiership. We also introduced regular twilight Sunday games under our new lights at Brentwood Reserve, which extremely well-received by our players and supporters.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2019?

PVS: We will be fielding approximately 11 teams in 2019.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

PVS: At this time of the year the focus moves to football and everyone is excited about the season beginning in the next month. We are also excited that we’ll have new club rooms being built during the year.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season, and why?

PVS: I think our under-17s are a great chance of winning a premiership this season. They’ve been slowly building over the past couple of seasons and look primed for a big 2019.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

PVS: The majority of our teams have strong playing numbers, however we have room for more players who we would welcome in the following age groups for boys: under-8s, 9s, 10s, 13s and 14s.

If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?

PVS: Please contact our registrar, Sharna at registrar@glenrovers.org.au
