20 DAYS TO GO | Croydon junior president Richard Nunziante spoke to EFL Media ahead of the 2019 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water & Choose Tap.
Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field in 2018?
Richard Nunziante: Although we didn’t have as many sides as we would of liked (six) we were extremely happy with the performance of all of our teams in 2018 with our under-8s having a great introductory year into football to our age competitive years having great success with our under-12A and our 15A making finals.
As far as off-field goes we had a year of consolidation, which was needed. Our outgoing committee did a great job last year with a rejuvenated Auskick topping their accomplishments.
Approximately how many teams will you field in 2019?
RN: Eight teams.
What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?
RN: With a near-new committee, our pre-season has been full of excitement with the introduction of our summer training program, updating our whole merchandise range and creating our first annual family day and season launch. All have been a great success and the feeling around the club is nothing short of electric.
If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season, and why?
RN: I think with our under-12s last year (now under 13s) coming third, they look the strongest chance with new coach Andrew Johnstone taking over. It’s an exciting time for the group.
Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?
RN: Our under-8s and under-9s could always do with a top up.
If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?
RN: If anyone is interested in joining our great club they can log onto our website at
