Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance to commemorate all those Australians and New Zealanders who served and died during military service and to also remember the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.
We are extremely grateful to be able to play football and netball over this weekend and honour those who have served and died for our country.
We trust that all games this weekend will be played out in the Anzac Spirit, displaying qualities which include endurance, courage, ingenuity, selflessness, good humour, and mateship.
Our Anzac Day weekend of matches kicks off tonight with the clash at HE Parker Reserve between Division Two local rivals Heathmont and Ringwood under lights, then on Saturday our match of the round is Doncaster East playing host to local rivals Doncaster at Zerbes Reserve, with both clubs eager to notch their first win of the season and Doncaster East their first ever win in the Premier Division.
On Anzac Day Sunday we have Blackburn hosting South Croydon in their traditional Anzac Day clash.
With two grounds and six games across the day (Men’s, Women’s and U19’s) it promises to be a massive day for both clubs and will provide us with a good insight into where both the male and females teams are at in their respective divisions. The Premier men’s game will have media coverage over our Facebook and YouTube, so if you can’t make it down tune in and catch all the action.
All our Junior competitions will also be in full flight so get down to your local community club and show your support.
Have a great weekend and best of luck to all teams.
Lest We Forget.
