FIRST WEFL FUNCTION OF 2014

Last night marked the first Women of the EFL function for 2014 – and what a night it was.

Hosted by Rob, Cameron and Mark from Rob Dolan Wines, students from William Angliss transformed what usually houses hundreds of wine barrels – and a very popular Four Pillars Gin still named Wilma – into a brilliant space to welcome women from across the EFL.

Women of the EFL committee member Lauren Wood played MC for the evening that included beautiful food, wine (and maybe the occasional gin), music and laughs, along with a number of guest speakers including league chief executive Phil Murton and the EFL’s newest board member and former mayor of Knox Sue McMillan.

Phil gave an insight into just how things are tracking both on and off the field for the league, while Sue – a big fan of people and their stories – told a bit of her own rather inspiring one and just how she got to where she is today.

The evening not only received great feedback from all of those who attended, particularly those who took home raffle prizes and a box from the lolly buffet, but also raised almost $500 for beyondblue, the Women of the EFL’s nominated organisation for fundraising.

Many thanks go to Kirra from the EFL for all of her hard work, and WEFL chairwoman Jo Hart-Parker for countless hours of planning.

The next Women of the EFL function is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16 at Glen Waverley Hawks Football Club, and we’d love to see as many ladies from your club there! Make sure you keep up to date with what’s happening on Facebook (Women of the EFL), Twitter (@WomenEFL) and right here on the EFL website.
