ERCA COACHING ACADEMY

The Eastern Region Coaches Association in partnership with the Eastern Football League, Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League and the Dandenong Ranges Junior Football League has launched the 2015 ERCA Coaching Academy.

Focused on the transition from playing to coaching the academy will provide entry level coaches with a strong, broad grounding in the key fundamentals of coaching senior football.

It will be built around the development of a coaching philosophy, the coach’s code of conduct and game plan/style of play. Covering all facets of coaching, the program aims to give coaches ‘real world’ experience without the pressure of coaching full time.

Eastern Region Game Development Manager Aaron Bailey says that the program will allow more coaches to be confident when taking on roles,

It’s an initiative that will give players the chance to look ahead at coaching while still finishing their playing career, transitioning players are able to learn in depth without the pressure of wins and losses that new coaches usually find” Bailey said.

The Program will commence at the end of January, with a session held each month focusing on a different aspect of coaching. On completion of assessments the graduates will be presented at the ERCA coach of the year awards to be held in early September 2015.

Bailey feels that the workshops allow participants the perfect grounding for personal development;

“Monthly workshops will allow coaches to have valuable discussion with other participants but more importantly to interact with mentors and presenters to get the most from the experience”.

The cost of the program will be $295 which covers the cost of the Level 1 Coaches course as well as presenters at workshops, AFCA Membership, resources and Entry to the ERCA coach of the Year dinner.

Places will be strictly limited, Candidates will be assessed on their Application as well as age, tribunal record and their coaching position in 2015, More Info HERE
