Congratulations to the following coaches who have been named recipients of the Eastern Region Coaches Association’s Coach of the Month for May.
Auskick of the Month – Danny Gloufchev (Blackburn)
Danny has shown a great knowledge of the new 2.0 curriculum and is setting up and running the coaching side of the Auskick centre extremely well. Danny uses clear instructions which are easy to follow which allows for the kids to be easily split into their groups and directed to their activity grid. He gets around to every group to help demonstrate technique and allows plenty of time for the kids to get plenty of repetition to learn the skills to the best of their ability.
Senior Women’s Coach – Cassandra Pruden (Chirnside Park) Senior Women’s – Division 1
Cass is only a second-year coach and puts in a lot of personal after hours work through coaching resources available to her. This ensures she can assist our head coach at training and put drills and formations into place on the training track that then translate into real game time plans. Cass communicates with all players extremely well both on a coaching and personal level. Cass is received well at the club by the committee and has the respect of the players.
Senior Coach – Ben Neagle (Lilydale) Senior Division 2

Ben has a great knowledge of the game and his ability to pass his experiences and knowledge onto the players in all teams from the seniors, reserves and under-19s is great. Ben is a very approachable coach and takes the time out to give you a call during the week to see how you are tracking and has the attention of the whole playing list when he is communicating. Furthermore, he is one of the most respected people at our club. From the under-19s to the seniors, Ben has created long standing relationships with all players, officials and members of the club.
Junior Coach – Justin Charlot (Mooroolbark) Under-10B
Justin has continued to develop the fundamentals of the game such as kicking through passing on his knowledge and using other resources from his assistants and online programs. Justin always talks to his players. He maintains the same volume of voice and engages his team with relative ease. His messages are simple as he is very aware of the variation of competencies if his players.
Youth Coach – Michael Hughson (Bayswater) Under-12 Girls
Michael brings years of football experience and insight to the group and teaches age appropriate strategy and technique. Michael communicates in an animated way, which captivates the kids. He’s always positive and lots of talk and demonstrations. Michael’s training sessions are always well planned, with engaging activities which nearly always involve a ball and skill development is always a big focus. He forms good relationships with parents/officials and the kids love coming to training.
Senior Women’s Coach – Lisa Walshe (Knox) Senior Women’s
Lisa has 17 years of playing experiencing starting off in juniors and coaching junior sides over several seasons. Lisa has been captain of the senior side over the last few years and had to take on the coaching roles at the last minute. She can communicate with first year players in such a way that not only are they understanding and executing her game plan. Lisa has managed to implement a training program that has a very strong focus on skill development whilst still being challenging and improving the skills of the more experienced players.
