EFL SENIOR FIXTURES – 2014

THE 2014 EFL fixtures for Divisions 1 to 4 have been released.

The complex process, which uses seeded draws in Divisions 1 and 3, was completed today.

Of the 74 fixture requests that came from clubs, 69 have been accommodated for. This is a result the league is very happy with, due to the complexity of the task and the availability of the AFL software.

Following an EFL-VAFA interleague match at VISY Park on 29 March, all four divisions will commence on the first weekend of April.

For the second consecutive year, the season will kick-off with a standalone blockbuster night game between Bayswater and Mulgrave at Bayswater Oval on 4 April.

In other fixture highlights, six games have been scheduled for ANZAC Day, which lands on a Friday in 2014:

  1. Blackburn v South Croydon

  2. Rowville v Knox

  3. Donvale v Doncaster East

  4. Mooroolbark v Waverley Blues (TWILIGHT)

  5. Mitcham v Glen Waverley Hawks

  6. Upper Ferntree Gully v Wantirna South

Division 1 heavyweights Balwn and Noble Park will clash in the traditional Queen’s Birthday game on the Saturday of the June long weekend.

More games outside of the traditional Saturday 2.10pm timeslot – ANZAC Day games, night games and Sunday games – could be announced closer to the season.

Division’s 1 and 2 will have a Split Round in July, which will coincide with the Vic Metro-Vic Country representative match. The Split Round game dates will be confirmed at the start of the season to ensure any players selected for Vic Metro are available to play without missing a club game.

Division 4 will become a 10-team competition using a final-four format. The 2013 structure will remain the same though for Division’s 1, 2 and 3, with 12 teams to remain Division 1, 10 in Division 2 and 12 in Division 3.

Please note: the 2013 junior fixture will not be released until late March in 2014.
