EFL APPOINT NEW HEAD OF UMPIRING

The EFL is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Van Noordennen as the league’s new Head of Umpiring.

Van Noordennen, a former EFL umpire, has coached umpires for the last 15 years, including time at the Southern Umpires Association and as Director of Umpiring at the Southern Football League. In this role he is credited with significantly developing the quality and content of the umpiring program while substantially boosting umpiring numbers through innovative recruitment strategies.

In addition to coaching roles he has also been an umpire’s observer for the VFL/TAC Cup and is currently completing the AFL’s High Performance Coach Management Program.

League CEO Phil Murton said Van Noordennen, who has a workplace training and education background, beat a strong field of applicants

“This is backed up by a broad education and umpiring skill set that should see him continue to develop the leagues umpiring program in all areas, particularly coaching, performance and recruitment.”

Van Noordennen will begin in his new role in on Tuesday March 15.
