In Premier Division, South Croydon booked its place in the finals with a 30-point win over Montrose at Cheong Park. Meanwhile, Rowville upset Blackburn by seven points at Seebeck Oval.
In the first of the Division 1 finals clashes, Croydon prevailed by 12 points over Lilydale in the qualifying final. Led by Riley Costantino with five majors, as the Blues led at all changes. Bayswater and Park Orchards do battle on Sunday afternoon to round out the first week of Division 1 finals action, as Croydon faces minor premier Doncaster East next week.
In Division 2, Heathmont has qualified for finals after defeating Scoresby by 80 points to finish in fourth position, led by Brown and Young who each booted four for the Jets. Meanwhile, Ringwood upset Boronia by 67 points off the back of six majors to Brereton.
Division 3 finals action saw South Belgrave account for Ferntree Gully by 107 points, with a six-goal haul from Leigh Odermatt. The Eagles led by a point at quarter time before the Saints piled on 20 goals to three after the first break. The match-up between Warrandyte and the Waverley Blues will round out the first week of Division 3 finals on Sunday.
In Division 4, East Burwood is through to its first grand final since 2004 after a comprehensive 45-point victory over Coldstream. Adrian Gileno was the hero for the Rams with a bag of seven goals, followed by Lewis Neate with four. Coldstream will play the winner of Sunday’s semi-final between Fairpark and Surrey Park.
