In Premier Division, Blackburn and Balwyn played out a thriller at Morton Park, as the Panthers edged the Tigers by just five points. Blackburn led at all changes, as Patrick Lawlor led the scoring for the home side with three majors. Meanwhile, South Croydon powered past Rowville at Cheong Park, recording a 31-point victory.
Division 1 action saw Croydon outlast ladder-leader Doncaster East by seven points at Croydon Oval, as Bayswater posted a comfortable 32-point victory over Wantirna South after the Waters held control at each change. Meanwhile, Lilydale defeated Park Orchards by 33 points and Mooroolbark defeated Knox by 34 points.
In Division 2, Boronia upset ladder-leader Ringwood by seven points in a boil-over at Tormore Reserve. Despite leading comfortably at the final change, the Hawks were challenged in the final term as the Redbacks piled on three goals to none.
The resurgent Waverley Blues recorded a 14-point win over Warrandyte, in heavy conditions at Warrandyte Reserve. The Blues led by 33 at three-quarter time, holding the Bloods goal-less for more than three and a half quarters before a late blitz by the Bloods saw three final quarter majors kicked to narrow the margin at the final siren.
In Division 4, Silvan upset Fairpark by eight points, led by Leigh Kimpton with three goals. The Cats restricted the Lions to just three goals to three-quarter time, before eight goals to two in the final term saw Fairpark challenge for the four points. Schmidt and Smith also contributed two majors for the Cats, while Mercer and Mullucks kicked two apiece for the Lions.
