A strong round of netball was played last Friday as we saw some huge wins across all seven divisions. The EFL netballers appreciate the constant support across all the clubs coming down and supporting them every week and with finals coming up, the best netball is yet to come…
In Premier/Premier Reserve Division, we finally saw the undefeated Fairpark face their first loss. The Wantirna South Devils were led by Woodgate who scored 49 goals in their 66-47 win over Fairpark. Scoresby set their spot in the top four with a seven-goal win over Blackburn, Kelly with a steady 24 goals for the game. Lilydale remain in contention to secure a top four spot come finals after their big 68-51 goal win lead by the goaling of Luiyf. Boronia’s Rush scored a massive 60 goals in their 19-goal win against Wantirna South Devils Reserve. Norwood defeated Montrose, 50-38 with Dykstra leading the way with 39 goals.
In Division 1, Knox Falcons continue to show the they are a strong side in this division with a steady win over Heathmont, 40-32. Coldstream were able to get the four points against Park Orchards by 12 goals. Kilsyth were led by Gill who scored 27 goals in their 36-24 goal win over Scoresby. South Croydon’s third quarter was far too strong for Blackburn with the Dogs getting a 31-goal win. William’s 26 goals for Fairpark set them up for their win against Forest Hill, 37-35.
Over in Division 2, The Basin were able to get their fifth win on the board against Knox, 38-32 with Watson scoring 25 goals. Forest Hill kept a steady lead for the whole game resulting in six goal-win against Lilydale. Ringwood’s Livesey set up their win over Park Orchards after scoring 33 goals for the game in the 22-goal win. A huge 37 goals to Stephens made it hard for Norwood to fight back the margin, Ferntree Gully went on to get the win, 44-31. In one of the closest games across board, Wantirna Devils got the win by one goal against Kilsyth despite their comeback efforts. Closing out the round, Vermont came from being down at three quarter time to seal the win by four goals against Croydon.
Division 3 began with a steady win for Mulgrave against Waverley Blues, 36-15. Whitehorse remain in the top sport after their 11-goal win over Rowville. Ringwood working hard this end of the season, they came away with the win against Knox, 26-15. Boronia continue to show they’re finals ready after a big win against Norwood, 39-18. Upper Ferntree Gully’s win was led by Martin and Jackson’s goal scoring, they defeated Kilsyth by 32 goals. Finishing off this division, Heathmont’s strong first half cemented their win against Scoresby, 35-16.
In Division 4, Nunawading were too strong for Ferntree Gully resulting in an 11-goal win. Boronia defeated Heathmont, 34-12, with Boronia’s Kemp strong in the goal circle with 25 goals. Lilydale went away with the four points after their five-goal win. North Ringwood got off to a slow start but were able to work their way back into the game to get over the line against Upper Ferntree Gully, 31-26. The Division finished off with cruisy wins for Wantirna South Devils and Glen Waverley Hawks.
Division 5 started with Lesiputty setting up her Heathmont side to their 30-18 win against South Croydon. Mitcham proved to be too strong for Coldstream White with a 10-goal win going their way. A close game for all four quarters ended in a Ringwood win over Wantirna South, 24-20. Gray’s shooting display for Norwood got them over the line against The Basin by 14 goals. South Belgrave had four different goalers for the game with each of them making the goals matter in their win against Coldstream, 51-13.
Division 6 saw Knox get another win on the board after they defeated Glen Waverley Hawks by six goals. Park Orchards still holding onto to a top four spot after they defeated Mulgrave, 28-12. Montrose’s Inglese scored 19 goals in their win against Coldstream, 32-23. Ferntree Gully were able to secure the win over Norwood, 23-17 while Nunawading remain to a be team to beat after they defeated The Basin by seven goals. Finishing off the round of the netball, Lilydale’s strong first quarter set them up for their win against Scoresby, 31-15.
Looking ahead, it is looking to be quite an even playing field across all seven divisions. A couple of games to try get down to watch, Scoresby will be looking to deliver Fairpark their second loss of the season when they play Friday. Division 4 will see Ferntree Gully and Boronia face off in their third versus fourth clash.
