PREMIER WOMEN’S:
Vermont vs South Croydon Blue: South Croydon Blue were 11-point winners over Vermont at Vermont Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The game was a tight affair all morning with the margin no more than seven points until the final quarter when South Croydon Blue managed to widen the gap on the scoreboard to 11 points.
Vermont was their own worst enemy with their inaccurate kicking of 4.10, having four more scoring shots at goal. Katie Shanahan was stellar for South Croydon Blue with three goals and her current season goal tally is nine and their BOG was Ebony Vanderheym. Vermont’s Evie Allman (Premier goal kicking leader) bounced back in fine form after being kept quiet and going goalless last week, she scored four goals and now has 21 goals for the season.
Blackburn Black vs Donvale Black: Blackburn Black were a class above Donvale Black downing them by 69-points at Morton Park.
It was a super performance from Blackburn Black, they held Donvale Black to two goals for the entire match.
Donvale Black could not get any flow into their game style and had no answers in stopping Blackburn Black’s solid offence and defence that was running riot in Blackburn. Blackburn Black forward duo Jess Grace (four) and Chloe O’Malley (three) were formidable combining with seven majors. Donvale Black’s only two goal kickers were Jasmine D’Amato and Taylah Di Staso.

DIVISION ONE WOMEN’S
East Ringwood vs Berwick: After two wins on the trot, East Ringwood were no match for Berwick losing by 27-points at East Ringwood Reserve. East Ringwood’s best player was Rebecca Gallaher. Berwick had four individual goal scorers including Courtney De Kroon, Kylee White, Jayde Smith (Berwick’s BOG) and Christie Vassallo.
Rowville vs The Basin: The Basin inflicted further pain on Rowville with a smashing of 65-points at Seebeck Oval. It was all The Basin from the opening term with Rowville held scoreless and this continued in the next three quarters with The Basin scoring 10 of the last 12 goals of the match. A dominant display from the ladder leaders The Basin proving once again that they will definitely take some beating this season.
The Basin were led well by star forward Julia Baker (Division One goal kicking leader), who added another four goals, and she now has 18 goals in the season, while Ruby Southam was the The Basin’s best. For Rowville, Danielle Brotto kicked their only two goals.
Boronia Brown vs North Ringwood: What a performance from the Boronia Brown forwards, Kathleen McMahon, Rachael Slater and Simone Stubley as they guided Boronia Brown to a huge 44-point victory at Tormore Reserve. McMahon, Slater and Stubley contributed two goals each and Boronia Brown’s best was Rebecca McMahon. Meanwhile, North Ringwood looked lacklustre all morning, only able to record two goals.
Ferntree Gully vs Whitehorse Suns: A strong final quarter from Ferntree Gully helped them to topple Whitehorse Suns by 22-points at Wally Tew Reserve. It was a tight contest in the opening three quarters and either teams game at three quarter time with two points the margin, but after three quarter time Ferntree Gully piled on three goals and ran out victors. It was a deflating loss for Whitehorse Suns, as they were in the game up to their eyeballs at three quarter time. Ferntree Gully’s Abbey Broughan was the only multiple goal scorer in the game with two goals, while Lisa Walshe was Ferntree Gully’s best. For Whitehorse Suns, Abbey Tanner and Isabella Gietzmann chipped in a goal apiece.
SBL Wolves vs Park Orchards: SBL Wolves came away with a 26-point win over Park Orchards at Belgrave South Recreation Reserve. It was a classy display from SBL Wolves as they only allowed Park Orchards to score their first goal in the second quarter after they kept them to a point in the first term. Credit to Park Orchards, as they came back hard in the second quarter with two goals and narrowed the margin to seven points at the main break. After the main break, SBL Wolves kicked into gear and fired away with five of the last seven goals of the contest to break clear of Park Orchards. SBL Wolves’ win was led by Carmen Schuster, who finished with two goals. Park Orchard’s main goal scorer was Isabelle Pollock with three majors and for the second week in a row Kaitlyn Rukavina was Park Orchard’s BOG.
DIVISION TWO WOMEN’S
Heathmont vs Knox – Heathmont 2.3(15) defeated Knox 2.2(14), no goals/best players supplied.
Kilsyth vs Montrose: It was an entertaining clash at Pinks Reserve between the second and third best sides in Division Two, as Montrose were made to earn it getting over the line by a point over a valiant Kilsyth. No more than five points separated Kilsyth and Montrose all afternoon showing how evenly matched the two sides are. There were four individual goal kickers for Kilsyth including Hayley Jackson, Brooke Stephenson-Fuss, Lucy Milkeraitis and Shae Dale. It was the same for Montrose as they had individual goal scorers too with Courtney Anderson, Eliza Bentley and Katie Cameron.
Surrey Park vs Ringwood: The unbeaten ladder leaders Ringwood showed they are the real deal in 2021 with a resounding 41-point triumph over a disappointing Surrey Park that failed to score on their home deck at Surrey Park Reserve. Ringwood were formidable in every department on the ground and Surrey Park was made to look second rate. The goal kickers for Ringwood were Mikayla Coats, Grace Ward, Amber Stelfox, Zoe Price, Olivia Ashcroft and Nicole Stagg all contributing a goal each. Meanwhile, Sarah Davis was Ringwood’s best. In a dark afternoon for Surrey Park, Lilly Toomey gave it her all and was Surrey Park’s BOG.
DIVISION THREE WOMEN’S
FairPark vs Chirnside Park Gold: Chirnside Park Gold were too classy for FairPark winning by 46-points at FairPark Reserve. It was a fine four quarter effort from Chirnside Park Gold, as they not only scored eight goals but kept FairPark goalless and to six behinds till three quarter time and Fair Park were only able to score their first major in the final term via Jaimee-Lee Halls. FairPark’s best was Abbey Croot. For Chirnside Park Gold, there strong outing was led by Sarah Jones (three goals), Renee Cellante and Rachael Palmer (both contributed two goals apiece). To cap it all off for Jones, she was Chirnside Park Gold’s BOG.
Coldstream vs Croydon North MLOC: Once again Coldstream struggled to find a goal in their massive 79-point loss to Croydon North MLOC at Coldstream Reserve. It was the perfect game from Croydon North MLOC defensively and offensively, as they bounced out of the blocks with three goals and continued this high scoring kicking four goals in the third and last term, only the second quarter they scored a goal. Croydon North MLOC’s Martina Jurkschat was in the thick of the goals with three and Monique Hewish was awarded Croydon North MLOC’s best and also chipped in with two goals. Meanwhile, Bree Pascoe was adjudged Coldstream’s BOG.
South Croydon Red vs Boronia Gold: South Croydon Red extended their winning streak to six with a mammoth 64-point victory over Boronia Gold at Cheong Park. Boronia Gold were only able to score two points for the whole contest due to the incredible defensive display shown by the formidable defence of South Croydon Red. Alana Prendergast led from the front inside 50 for South Croydon Red with three goals, while Elizabeth Griffin. Jordyn Dehnert and Juley Thai contributed two goals each. For the second straight week, Tayla Jones was given the best on ground honours for South Croydon Red. Boronia Gold’s best player was Gemma Week.
