Earlier today Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews spoke earlier today about the relaxing of some restrictions, for those that enjoy their Golf, fishing and hiking for example. People can also visit family and friends (if necessary) with a 5 person limit and outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed from midnight Tuesday.
Elite level AFL football will re commence training from midnight Tuesday with stringent requirements in place to ensure the health and safety of all participants. All players will be subject to daily medical screening and temperature tests and players and officials would be tested twice per week and on match day.
So what does that mean for the Eastern Football Netball League? Is club training, events, ground and light usage still suspended until 31st May 2020?
This morning the Premier announced the easing of some restrictions in relation to outdoor sport.
Specifically that groups of up to 10 could commence training from midnight Tuesday
Unlike some States, Sports and Recreation Victoria appears to have put a limit of 10 people per venue.
Whilst we are pleased with the announcements there are many key steps that need to be addressed before Official Club sanctioned training can commence.
AFL Victoria will seek clarity from the State Government around what the announcement means specifically for the Community Football and the Eastern Football Netball League. One key step will be a comprehensive Return to Training Framework.
We understand that many clubs are eager to commence full club training however we would request that your patience continues for a little longer. With no Return to Play date we encourage players to stay fit and reconnect with their friends in small groups from Wednesday 13th May 2020.
We will provide updates over the coming days and weeks, as further information and advice becomes available.
