2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Premier Division

The Wantirna South Devils have followed up their strong opening round showing with another dominant performance, defeating Blackburn Red 55-20. Once again, it was the formidable pairing of Woodgate (35 goals) and Halstead (20 goals) handling scoring duties for the Devils. Woodgate takes her season total to a whopping 71 goals in the first two rounds, while Halstead moves to 48.

Meanwhile, the Lilydale Falcons and East Burwood Black played out a close one, with the Falcons prevailing by six goals. Trailing by seven at half time, East Burwood piled on 12 third-quarter goals to Lilydale’s eight to make it a three-goal margin at the final break. But the Falcons were too strong, pouring in 13 goals of their own in the final term to run out 46-40 winners.

Elsewhere, Heathmont took care of business against Boronia 39-27 to improve to 2-0 on the year, with Daniels and Abbruzzese contributing 17 goals each.


2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 1

The Scoresby Swoopers and Montrose Demons have played out a thriller in Round 2 of Division 1. Montrose jumped Scoresby early and jumped out to a nine-goal first-quarter lead. But the Swoopers didn’t panic and piled on 15 goals to two in a dominant second term to hold a 20-16 half-time lead. The Demons continued to claw the margin back all the way to the final minute, but Scoresby held on for a 29-28 victory, thanks to Williams’ 26 goals.

Ferntree Gully made light work of Coldstream Grey, running out 18-goal winners, while elsewhere the Kilsyth Cougars defeated North Ringwood Black 45-28 to square their season record at 1-1.

Knox had their second win of the season after defeating Park Orchards White 45-28, with Laub pouring in 41 goals.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 2

Round 2 action in Division 2 saw a host of closely contested games. Norwood Purple and Mulgrave Red both recorded three-goal victories, over Forest Hill White and Kilsyth Cougars Red respectively.

Meanwhile, North Ringwood Red bounced back from their Round 1 loss to take out a 33-25 victory over Lilydale Gold.

The Basin Red had a seven-goal win over rivals Park Orchards Red to improve to 2-0. Simpson (18 goals) and Beardsworth (16) again had relatively even contributions as both move their season tally to 34 goals.

Croydon Blues defeated Knox Black 34-22 thanks to 23 Abbott goals, while E. Bonnett (16 goals) and A. Russian (15 goals) helped Whitehorse Maroon dissect Blackburn Black 37-11.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 3

Chirnside Panthers got their first win of the 2019 season, defeating East Burwood Grey 25-19 thanks to 14 goals from T. Cornish and 11 from A. Grigg.

Ringwood Red improved to 2-0 after defeating South Croydon White 34-29. Despite the lead being cut to just one at half-time, Ringwood led at every break thanks to the steady shooting of M. Marnell (17 goals) and S. Livesey (16 goals).

North Ringwood White, Glen Waverley Blue and Heathmont White all had impressive wins, while the Vermont Eagles edged Whitehorse White in a thriller. The Eagles trailed 7-12 at half time before an eight-goal third term levelled the scores at 15-15 at the final break. The scoring prowess of Vermont’s K. Phillips (17 goals) was the difference in the end as her side ran out 21-20 winners.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 4

Croydon North MLOC and Coldstream White both recorded 25 goal+ victories to improve their season record to 2-0, while Montrose also remain undefeated after a 37-25 victory over Lilydale Blue.

Upper Ferntree Gully Red will be pleased with their 28-22 victory over Kilsyth Cougars Black, while Mitcham Yellow and the Scoresby Soarers both had big wins.

Norwood Gold edged out The basin Green 30-22 thanks to S. Gray’s 23-goal performance that saw her side establish an early buffer and continue to add to it as the game went on.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 5

Park Orchards Black made light work of South Belgrave Black thanks to four different goal-scorers. Hume (18 goals), Tatterson (9 goals), Owen (6 goals) and Pendrey (2 goals) lifted their side to a 35-19 victory.

Heathmont Yellow and Nunawading Lions both had easy wins. Nunawading’s R. Breukers poured in 26 goals in her side’s 24-goal demolition of Mitcham.

South Croydon Blue overcame a three-goal half-time deficit to defeat Wantirna South Green 27-24. A three-pronged attack of O’Toole (11 goals), Dobinson (10 goals) and Haynes (6 goals) was the difference for South Croydon.

Ringwood Black and Coldstream Blue will both take confidence from their ability to rally from half-time deficits to come away with victories in Round 2.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 6

Ringwood White held Mulgrave Blue scoreless in the opening quarter to run out eventual 32-20 winners. K. Ryan (17 goals) and J. Thompson (11 goals) did the damage early for Ringwood, as they piled on the insurmountable lead.

Glen Waverley Hawks Yellow, Knox White, and Coldstream Black all had comfortable wins, while the Balwyn Tigers and South Belgrave Red played out a tight one. Neck-and-neck the entire contest, South Belgrave held a one-goal advantage heading into the final quarter. In the end it was the shooting on T. Murphy who got the Red over the line, as she scored 18 goals in her side’s 28-24 win.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 7

The Basin Bears stumbled to their first loss of 2019 as they fell 11-21 to Glen Waverley Black, who earned their first win of the season after a draw in the opening round.

Norwood White became the only 2-0 side in Division 7 as they defeated Coldstream 25-16, while Lilydale Yellow remain undefeated after their draw in Round 1, defeating Ferntree Gully White by 18 goals in Round 2.
