Division 1:
Croydon 72 def Lilydale 50
What started off as a close game soon changed at the end of the second quarter when Croydon took the lead by nine goals after only a one-goal lead in the first term. With a chance to redeem themselves, Lilydale tried to catch up after halftime but couldn’t keep up with Croydon’s defence which led Lilydale to a 22-goal loss.
Best on court and beating her personal best record, Genevieve Abbott scored an incredible 57 goals on Friday night with a total of 231 goals scored this season, putting her on top of the highest goals scored in Division 1.
Croydon remains undefeated and is set to play against their biggest contender, East Burwood Black with the same record of 8-0.

Division 2:
Oakleigh Districts 35 def Vermont 33
A top of the ladder v bottom of the ladder display surprised many on Friday night. Vermont thought they could walk away with an easy win however Oakleigh proved them otherwise. Despite sitting at opposite ends of the ladder, Oakleigh pulled out their first win making Vermont suffer their second loss for the season. Vermont moved down to second place and Oakleigh moved up to 7th.
The game was incredibly close all throughout and maintained in favor of Vermont. Making a comeback in the last quarter, Oakleigh proved to be hungrier for the ball as they pushed harder in the attacking circle scoring 10 over Vermont’s six in the last quarter, crowning Oakleigh the winners.
Oakleigh’s Christie Brinkhuis was the star of the game scoring a personal best of 33 goals in one game.

Division 3:
Mulgrave 32 def Montrose 31
A nail-biting game took place between Mulgrave and Montrose on Friday night as they fought neck and neck for the win. Mulgrave trailed closely behind Montrose throughout the whole game with only a one-goal difference in favor of Montrose at the end of the third quarter. Refusing to accept a third loss for the season, Mulgrave pushed harder in the goal circle scoring two goals more than Montrose, leading them to their victory.
Mulgrave move up to second place on the ladder while Montrose move down a place to 5th.
Rebecca Lawson and Jessica Beardsworth worked great together in the goal circle contributing 21 and 11 goals towards Mulgrave’s win.
Eloise Bieniak, Blaithin Doyle and Georgia Burt worked very well together with a contribution of 17,12 and two goals respectively, but it wasn’t enough to give Montrose the win.

Division 4:

Another close affair between East Burwood and Heathmont on Friday night as the two teams put their hearts on the line. Both teams taking turns of taking the lead as Heathmont lead by one goal at the end of the first quarter before the Rams took over leading by three at halftime. At the end of the third quarter both teams were level at 18 apiece. A game that could go anyway, ended with East Burwood proving they are the stronger team, walking away with the two-goal win.
Rachael Sheridan and Jasmine Moya contributed an equally beautiful display of 14 and 11 goals towards East Burwood.
Although Jessica Hall scored the most goals of 17 on court, it still wasn’t enough to walk away with the win.

Vermont 38 def Chirnside Park 24
A very important game for both teams this week as 1st and 2nd place battle it out on the courts. Vermont is the team to beat this season, while Chirnside Park have only lost one game. After the game on Friday night Vermont remain undefeated and Chirnside Park move from second down to third. Although the game started off with both teams finishing the first quarter with seven goals each, at halftime Vermont scored 12 goals to Chirnside Park’s four setting the tone for how the rest of the game will go.
Kellie Phillips scored an exceptional 27 goals with assistance from Stephanie Issa scoring 11 of her own.

It was a very intense and close game between Kilsyth and Heathmont on Friday night as Kilsyth pushed for their second win this season. Regardless of sitting at the bottom of the ladder, Kilsyth wasn’t mucking around on Friday night dominating and controlling the game in their favour. Throughout the game they maintained a steady lead and ensured there was no possibility for a turnover. In the end Kilsyth celebrated their second win, walking away with happy smiles.
Maddy Pearce and Hayley Pearce continue to shine bright with a contribution of 13 and 10 goals to Kilsyth.

Montrose Storm 38 def Nunawading 9
Montrose enjoyed a comfortable win against Nunawading on Friday night with a 29-goal win.
The game started off relatively close with Montrose leading by four goals after the first quarter. However, after halftime Montrose’s defence proved to be too strong for Nunawading as they couldn’t score any goals in the third quarter and only two in the fourth quarter.
Kristen Mallia did amazing in the goal circle scoring 25 goals with assistance from Jennifer Lutgens scoring 13.

Division 8:
Mulgrave 36 def Scoresby 34
Sitting at opposite ends of the ladder, Scoresby surprised many with their ability to come back to fight hard for the chance to win.
The first quarter ended with only a one-goal difference in favor of Mulgrave and by the end of the second quarter Mulgrave were leading with seven goals. The Magpies didn’t let the scoreboard get in the way of the game as they came back fighting scoring 11 goals to Mulgrave’s eight. In the last quarter tensions rose as both teams fought hard to pull out a win and while Scoresby scored nine goals in the last quarter to Mulgrave’s seven, it still wasn’t enough for a turnover win, making Mulgrave the winners on Friday night.
Alexandra Bonney scored the most goals on court contributing 21 to Mulgrave, while Kayla Mclean assisted with 15 of her own.
Amazing effort from Jordyn Walker and Zoe Ford scoring 18 and 16 goals for Scoresby.
