Bendigo Bank Netball Review – Round Three

Another big Friday night for the EFNL netball league as teams go head-to-head with some great matches played across all eight divisions

Division 1

East Burwood Rams 47 def East Ringwood 41

East Ringwood encountered their first loss for the season against top of the ladder, East Burwood Rams. This nail-biting match had the two teams head-to-head with only one goal difference at halftime. However, by the end of the third quarter, The Rams were able to gain a four-goal lead, defeating East Ringwood by 6 goals.

Danika Corless and Rylee Hamilton worked beautifully together in the goal circle with a shared 24 and 21 goals contributed towards getting the Rams over the line

Molly Heymanson dominated in the goal circle contributing 28 goals for East Ringwood

Division 2:

The Basin Kodiaks 29 def Vermont Eagles 26

The Basin Kodiaks made a huge comeback win against Vermont Eagles last week. Behind all throughout the game, the Kodiaks were able to gain composure and take charge in the final period, scoring 11 goals to Eagles 7, making the Kodiaks victorious.

Division 3:

Vermont Eagles 28 def Whitehorse Pioneers 26

Another nail-biting match on Friday night with both teams equal 14 goals apiece at halftime. The third quarter was still very close with only one goal difference going towards Whitehorse Pioneers. However, the Eagles were able to take charge and secure the two-goal win.  Vermont Eagles continue to remain undefeated and sit comfortably at the top of the ladder.

Georgia fuller, Elise Norman and Emmerson Buckland all contributed nicely in the goal circle with 16, 7 and 5 goals respectively.

Elizabeth Bonnett carried in the goal circle with 19 goals of her own and supported by Grace Thomas with 7, however it wasn’t enough to make it over the line.

Division 4:

Nunawading 44 def Upper Ferntree Gully 12

Nunawading enjoyed a comfortable win over Upper Ferntree Gully last Friday night with an outstanding 32-goal win.

Rebekah Breukers scored an outstanding 35 goals on Friday making it her best game yet with Melanie Van Zuyden scoring nine of her own.

Nunawading climb the ranks and now sit happily in second place.

Division 5:

Coldstream Red 22 def Ringwood 21

A very strong display from both teams on Friday night. A match that could have gone either way with the teams fighting at a single goal difference all throughout the match. While Ringwood were always in the lead, Coldstream never gave up and kept the pressure up leaving them walking away with the one-goal win.

Madison Carroll scored 13 goals with the support of Jaimii-Lee Young scoring 9 for Coldstream.

Division 6:

Boronia 24 drew Mitcham 24

Outstanding effort from both teams on Friday night.

This game had many people on the edge of their seats. The game started with Boronia leading by nine goals and keeping their competitive edge all the way to halftime, leading by 10 goals. By the end of third quarter, Mitcham were catching up with only a 6-goal difference. Mitcham were able to use Boronia’s fatigue to their advantage during the last quarter by scoring eight goals to Boronia’s two, leaving the match a draw.

Both teams had an equal contribution of goals with Boronia’s Elle Serong and Ebony Williams scoring 14 and 10 goals while Mitcham’s Jessica Repalust and Makayla Blanche scored 13 and 11 goals.

Division 7:

South Belgrave 22 def Ferntree Gully 5

A very comfortable and dominant display shown from South Belgrave on Friday night as they defeated Ferntree Gully with ease. What started as a close game during the first quarter soon blew out as South Belgrave took charge by halftime leading by nine goals.

Caitlin Cook had an outstanding game scoring 17 goals while Baylie Withers assisted with four of her own and Grace Schafer with one.

Lashaye Walker, Ashleigh Keaton and Brittany Gray shared four goals between the three of them.

Division 8:

Montrose Heat 22 def Waverley Blues 18

A very close game between Montrose and Waverley on Friday night. Waverley was tailing closely behind Montrose all throughout the game, never stepping down the pressure. Heading into the final quarter there was only a two-goal difference, but Montrose’s attack was too strong and managed to get away with a four-goal win.

Polly Gemmell’s 14 goals was the most scored among any player on the court, however it wasn’t enough to get Waverley over the line.

Nicole Windley and Casey Hahn scored 13 and 9 goals for Montrose Heat, securing them the win.
