East Burwood Black 62 def Lilydale Falcons 46

East Burwood were too strong for the Falcons, despite it being close in early stages of the first quarter on Friday Night. To the Falcons credit, they ended first term down 14-15 against an East Burwood side who have been beating all sides outside top of the ladder Boronia Hawks. Belinda Williams proved a star shooter and unstoppable force again as she had 47 goals. East Burwood remain second on the ladder with a top of the table clash lined up for next week against Boronia Hawks. Lilydale Falcons will play in a battle of the falcons as they play Knox Falcons next week.

Heathmont Jets 38 def Scoresby Magpies 35

The Heathmont Jets got the win against Scoresby in tight and competitive game for all four quarters. At each break the margin never exceeded 4 goals however, it was Heathmont who held their nerve in each quarter and never let go of the lead they earned in first quarter. Heathmont’s win is crucial for their ladder position as loss would have seen them drop two places on the Division 1 ladder.

Division 2

Vermont Eagles Gold 46 def Park Orchards Red 22

Top of the ladder Vermont Eagles set the standard for the competition again on Friday night with a 24 goal win over Park Orchards. In a dominant display the Eagles got off to a fast start and continued to increase that margin at each break. Ella Tweedle shone for the Eagles taking the lion’s share of goal scoring responsibilities with 35 of Vermont’s goal. A season best scoring performance for her and impressively it takes her to 137 goals from six games this season.

Division 3

Park Orchards Blue 27 drew Whitehorse Pioneers Netball 27

This game was clearly a highlight of the round and calling it a tight contest would be an understatement. Whitehorse showed an abundance of character, trailing at all three breaks before they overturned a four goals deficit at three quarter time to finish all square at full-time.

After having the only draw in the division this season, Park Orchards sit just above Whitehorse in fifth on the ladder.

South Croydon Blue 31 def Norwood Purple 30

Only 1.34% separates these two sides on the ladder as both now have two wins to their name with South Croydon scraping a narrow one goal victory over Norwood. The two sides could not be separated at half-time with scores being level at 10-all. Ellen Brown stood up and was top scorer on the night with 16 goals. Norwood shared their scoring around between Darcy Krenn (12), Courtney Pilcher (10) and April Kupke (7) each contributing in a team effort for their win.

Knox Black 36 def East Ringwood White 15

Knox Black put on a dominant display with a 21 goal victory over East Ringwood White. Knox were not only talented in attack but they also showed great defensive ability by holding East Ringwood to three goals in each of their first two quarters and only two in the fourth. This set the tone for Knox’s win with an 18 goal lead at the half, meaning Knox could then see out the game comfortably. Stephanie Tilley and Georgia Mavridis proved a deadly partnership of shooters as they finished with 18 goals each.

Montrose Storm 19 def Park Orchards White 9

In the lowest scoring game for the division of round 11, Montrose Storm and Park Orchards battled it out and kept each other’s scoring to a minimum, with Montrose Storm coming out victorious with a ten goal win. It was a tight battle throughout as no side scored more than six goals in a quarter and the margin only grew out to ten when Montrose shut Park Orchards out in the last quarter and not letting them score any goals.

This win means Montrose have now moved up to 10th of the ladder and Park Orchards in 13th.

The Basin White 35 def Boronia Diamonds 20

The Basin proved to strong for Boronia Diamonds in this round 11 clash. To Boronia’s credit, they took the lead at quarter-time at by a goal and were only down by four at the half. Karen Rouda put on a strong shooting display for Boronia as she has consistently this season, shooting 18 of their 20 goals. Alicia Hughes finished top scorer on the night, helping her side with 20 goals of her own. After a tight first half it was the second half showing from The Basin which made the difference on the night.
