2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Premier Division

Wantirna South’s astounding goal-scoring tandem continued in Round 5 as L. Woodgate (39 goals) and K. Halstead (25 goals) combined to take down East Burwood Black. The Devils jumped out to a 15-5 quarter-time lead and proceeded to ease home to a 64-33 victory.

Lilydale returned to action fresh from a Round 4 bye and looked as if the club hadn’t missed a beat. K. Luiyf (33 goals) and A. Murphy (21 goals) were unstoppable as the Falcons led Boronia from start to finish.

Meanwhile, South Croydon Red recovered from its Round 4 loss to the Devils by taking care of business against Blackburn Red. Blackburn trailed by four goals at the first interval, but were never able to reduce the deficit as South Croydon ran out 37-31 victors.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 1

Coldstream Grey continues to flex its muscle in Division 1, brushing aside Park Orchards White. Park Orchards had no answers for Coldstream’s A. Katoa and T. Collette, who each scored 23 goals as the Grey cruised to a 46-19 victory.

Scoresby has built on its solid Round 4 performance by beating Ferntree Gully by 13 goals. After a back-and-forth first quarter saw the two clubs locked at 10 goals apiece, the Swoopers pulled away with a colossal 16-goal second term. Ferntree Gully’s C. Morgan showed some fight with 23 goals, but her opposite number B. Williams was unstoppable for the Swoopers, piling on 39 goals as Scoresby strolled to a 48-35 win.

Teunissen and F. Laub were instrumental in Knox continuing its success, scoring 20 goals apiece as their side defeated North Ringwood Black 40-21. Meanwhile, Kilsyth recorded a 35-27 victory over Montrose thanks to 20 goals from sharpshooter A Lennie.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 2

Norwood Purple have responded to a heavy Round 4 loss by recording an impressive 24-goal win over Ferntree Gully Yellow. Some accurate shooting from D. Krenn (24 goals) and T. Pongho (18 goals) saw the Purple lead at every change to finish 42-18 victors.

Elsewhere, Park Orchards Red survived a scare from Knox Black to bounce back from their Round 4 defeat. After trailing by six-goals at half-time, an 11 to five third term for Knox saw scores tied at 22 heading into the fourth. But some precise shooting from Park Orchards’  E. Buckland (23 goals) ensured her side avoided relinquishing a lead for a second-straight week as they fan out 32-26 winners.

North Ringwood Red recorded a 35-31 victory in a see-sawing contest with Blackburn Black featuring plenty of lead changes. 28 goals to T. Luiyf saw her side overturn a slim half-time deficit by outscoring Blackburn 19-14 in the second half.

Forest Hill White fell agonizingly short of a stirring comeback win against Mulgrave Red. One of the early-season favourites in Division 2, Mulgrave shot out to a seven-goal lead at the first break before 13 second-quarter goals to Forest Hill saw the margin cut to three at half time. Another 10 goals to seven in the third term saw scores tied at 27 apiece at the final interval, but 11 Mulgrave goals in the fourth period saw the Red record a 38-35 victory to continue their winning ways.

Elsewhere, Scoresby and The Basin both recorded straightforward victories as they both led Whitehorse and Lilydale respectively at every break.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 3

Chirnside have recorded a heart-stopping 39-38 victory over South Croydon White to return to the winners list. The Panthers established a five-goal quarter-time lead and weathered a number of South Croydon runs and T. Cornish’s 27 goals were critical in halting South Croydon in their tracks.

Graffen led all goal-scorers in Division 3 with 34 goals in Round 4 as Ferntree Gully dismantled Whitehorse 44-17. Elsewhere, Vermont’s K. Phillips scored 32 goals as the Eagles accounted for Rowville 36-23.

Croydon North MLOC piled on 18 fourth-quarter goals to sweep aside Ringwood Red 51-20. O. Ray (27 goals) and P. Saunders (20 goals) accounted for 47 of Croydon North’s 51 goals as the lead continued to grow.

Glen Waverley Blue came back from a four-goal half-time deficit to run out comfortable 34-24 winners over East Burwood Grey. P. Rondinella (19 goals) and E. Anderson (15 goals) continued their hot form as Glen Waverley outscored their opponents 22-6 in the second half.

Meanwhile, E. Salmon poured in 29 goals as North Ringwood White defeated Heathmont White 38-17. North Ringwood led at every change as they rolled to a straightforward win.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 4

Norwood Gold have stopped Montrose in their tracks with a 50-25 win in Round 5. Norwood were never troubled as they surged to a seven-goal lead by quarter-time. S. Gray piled on 37 goals as the Gold sent a statement to the rest of Division 4.

Lilydale Blue trailed at every break to snatch a 31-29 win over the Scoresby Soarers. Falling behind by five goals at quarter time, the Blue never managed to reduce the gap until the final term. Heading into the fourth quarter still trailing 26-21, Lilydale miraculously held Scoresby to just three fourth-quarter goals while adding 10 of their own to snatch an incredible victory.

Boronia Brown led from start-to-finish in a 14-goal rout of Kilsyth in which D. Kemp scored 31 of her side’s 39 goals, while Coldstream White came out of their meeting with The Basin with a straightforward 15-goal win.

Heathmont Blue held South Croydon Purple to just three goals in the second half as they coasted to a 30-12 victory. R. Christiansen scored 21 goals, while her side was never really troubled by South Croydon’s shooters.

Mitcham Yellow played out a thriller against Park Orchards Black to round out Round 5 action in Division 4. After scores were tied at eight apiece after one quarter the lead continued to see-saw thanks to back-and-forth shooting from Mitcham’s G. Fairbairn (15 goals) and Park Orchards’ J. Owen (17 goals) until time expired with the Yellow holding a 28-27 lead.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 5

Coldstream Blue’s M. Carroll scored 20 goals as her side held off a determined Glen Waverley White to record a 33-30 victory in Round 5. The Blue fell behind at half time, but an eight-goals-to-five third quarter laid the foundations for an impressive win.

Mitcham Black brushed aside Forest Hill, running out 11-goal victors after a tight first half. With scores tied at seven each at quarter-time, Mitcham turned on the jets to outscore the Zebras 16-6 over the second and third periods, recording a 32-21 win.

Meanwhile, Wantirna South Green’s S. Bayly (16 goals) and A. Lia (9 goals) combined to help their side handle business in a 30-19 victory over Heathmont Yellow.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 6

Coldstream Black and Balwyn both recorded ten-goal victories over Ringwood White and Knox White respectively, while Glen Waverley Hawks Yellow held Wantirna South White to just 6 first-half goals, while H. Jefferis scored 31 of her own en route to a 42-20 Hawks landslide.

Montrose was the other big winner from Round 5, making light work of Mulgrave Blue 41-18. E. Fahey poured in 30 goals for the Devils in the 23-goal victory.

South Belgrave Red continue to stack up wins as they defeated Ferntree Gully Blue 29-16. T. Murphy scored 16 goals, while R. Rollings (7 goals) and C. Moody (6 goals) both got in on the act as South Belgrave led at every break.

2019 Bendigo Bank Netball EFL Division 7

Glen Waverley Black secured yet another win, defeating Norwood White 34-14 in Round 5. Glen Waverley never conceded more than four goals in a quarter, jumping out to a 15-goal half-time lead before strolling home to a 20-goal victory.

Defence was the order of the day as Ferntree Gully White defeated Coldstream Red 21-11, while Lilydale Yellow defeated The Basin 32-20 in a higher-scoring affair. H. Burke (14 goals) and J. Young (11 goals) accounted for the bulk of the scoring in the second half. After the two sides were tied up at half time 14-14, Lilydale scored 11 goals to three in the third quarter to set up a 12-goal victory.
