East Burwood Black halted Heathmont’s early season momentum, overrunning the Jets to secure a two-goal victory. Some efficient shooting from Heathmont’s Z. Abbruzzese and R. Goulding saw their side jump to a three-goal quarter-time advantage which the Jets maintained through the second period. But M. Williams (15 goals) and S. Mulqueen (10 goals) put their foot down for the Black as they clawed the deficit back to just one at the final break, before accelerating to a 30-28 come-from-behind win.

41 goals between Boronia’s R. Crompton (24) and J. Schanssema (17) ensured the Hawks held off a fourth-quarter Blackburn Red comeback as the Hawks bounced back from their Round 3 loss to Wantirna South. With scores tied at 10 apiece after the first period, Boronia’s dominant duo built a four-goal half-time buffer and never looked back. The Red poured in 12 goals in the fourth, but the Hawks weathered the storm to hold on to a 41-39 victory.
