NORTH Ringwood Junior Football Club President Peter Chamings speaks to Ben Waterworth as his club prepares for the 2014 season.
Ben Waterworth: Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2013?
Peter Chamings: Overall, it went okay. Financially we did better than we had in the past. On the field, we weren’t as successful as previous seasons. We had 12 teams and we still had a number of teams in the finals, but we weren’t able to win any Grand Finals. You can’t win every year though, I suppose!
Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2014?
At this stage, around eight or nine teams.
What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?
From a footy operations side of things, we’re going well. We’re working well with the senior club and all coaches are in place. It’s been a good pre-season.
If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?
It’s a bit hard to tell at this stage. But our Under 11’s made finals last year and should do reasonably well in Under 12’s this year.
Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?
It would be good to top up a few of the upper age groups. We’re struggling with Under 17’s at the moment. We could also do with some Under 13’s and 14’s.
