2014 EFL Pre-Season Wiki | Tomorrow: Ringwood
LILYDALE Junior Football Club president Peter Koger speaks to Jason De Vincentis as his club prepares for the 2014 season.
Jason De Vincentis: Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2013?
Peter Koger: It’s difficult to answer because we had four teams in the Grand Final, but we won only one flag. We were a little bit disappointed, but obviously happy to have four teams out of 10 in the Grand Final. But it would’ve been nicer to have a 50 per cent win-loss record in Grand Finals.
Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2014?
Twelve teams. We range from Under 9’s to Under 17’s.
What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?
Pretty good. Our top age Under 17’s are going to play in the Tiwi Islands in four weeks’ time. It’s part of the Aboriginal community relationship program. Last year in October, the boys went to Wyndham up North and we’ll be going back there near the end of the year.
If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?
Under 17A’s will be strong again after winning the premiership last season.
Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?
We’re looking to get two teams in Under 13’s and Under 15’s this year, so we’re still looking for a few more players in those ages.
If any players are interested in playing for Lilydale Junior Football Club this season, what do they have to do?
