39 DAYS TO GO | ST SIMONS

Wayne Sargeant President – St Simon’s Community Football Club

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2014? The club achieved a premiership in under 12’s and were represented in finals across several other grades which was very pleasing. Our finances are acceptable however we do need to entice more sponsors in order to be able to upgrade our facilities at Liberty Reserve.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2015? We will field approx 9 or 10 teams this year What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season? Pre-season has only just commenced for many teams but there seems to be much enthusiasm for the season ahead

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season? As a club we haven’t seen EFL grades for the upcoming season so to pick a potential premiership winning team would be extremely challenging Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1? We would like more under 8’s and under 9’s as these kids form the future of the club. We have 20 registered for under 17’s so we may not have a secondary team to field which may pose a huge challenge depending on the grade we are placed in.

This year we are trying to attract female footballers and we are also looking for girls in the under 12 and under 15 age group. If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do? They can jump onto the website www.stsimonsknights.org.au and go to the payment section to download relevant forms or email Natalie at admin@stsimonsknights.org.au in order for her to send out appropriate information and payment details.
