2014 EFL Pre-Season Wiki | Tomorrow: Templestowe
EAST Ringwood Junior Football Club president Simon Moore speaks with Damian Watson as his club prepares for the 2014 season.
Damian Watson: Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2013?
Simon Moore: I was very satisfied. While on-field we didn’t win any flags, our Under 11A’s were runners-up and our Under 13’s and Under 15’s played finals. We rolled out a coaching support program, which provided really good support for our coaches and gave them some direction. Off the field, the club is in a great spot because we have created genuine momentum culturally with all of our members and they have really embraced the club in return. I couldn’t be happier.
Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2014?
Thirteen teams.
What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?
We are excited and enthusiastic. Our committee has been working hard since late October. We feel we have ticked all the boxes off the field. The kids are raring to go and can’t wait to have a proper kick of the footy.
If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?
It is a tough one, but I would like to think our Under 12’s can go one better following last year.
Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?
Our numbers overall are pretty good. While we have a team in the Under 13’s, we are at a stage where a couple of extra players would be great.
