Following the announcement that long-time Manager – Junior Football Rod Cordwell will be leaving the Eastern Football League the league has begun the search for his replacement ahead of the 2017 season.

The Junior Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of the leagues junior football competitions and providing football services, administrative support and guidance to clubs. The role requires a willingness to establish and maintain strong lines of communication with clubs and other stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide advice, training and support to clubs to ensure that each remains competent and viable

  2. Deliver a graded community football competition for all ages and standards of footballer

  3. Manage the junior lightning premiership and finals series of matches within revenue and expenditure budgets

  4. Manage the rules of the competition and the game.

  5. Manage the operation of a tribunal and investigation system that protects the integrity of the competition

  6. Identify key opportunities for sustainable growth for the league and deliver participation targets

  7. Support EFL managers in the implementation of their roles

  8. Maintain ongoing effective working relationships with AFL Victoria and maximize the services on offer to the league and its clubs

  9. Manage and deliver accurate timely reporting to the General Manager – Football Operations

  10. Ensure that player transfers and registration are dealt with appropriately

  11. Manage the junior interleague program

  12. Work cooperatively with the Junior Committee

Accountabilities:

  1. Club viability

  2. Participation growth targets are developed and achieved

  3. Rules of the competition and by-laws remain appropriate and are effectively maintained.

  4. Junior Interleague squads are properly managed and competitive

  5. The leagues junior finals series are managed effectively and budgets attained

Requirements:

  1. Established background in the operation of an effective sporting organization

  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications or practical experience

  3. Demonstrates innovation and willingness to challenge convention

  4. Able to manage an extensive network of volunteers

  5. High degree of communication and presentation skills

  6. A high degree of attention to detail

  7. A preparedness to work extended hours including weekends during periods when matches are fixtured
