East Ringwood Aqua claimed their first win of the 2025 Ringwood Mazda EFNL Division 13 season, defeating Montrose Heat by seven goals in a thrilling contest.
A 7-6 opening term set the tone for Aqua. Whilst Aqua held a one-goal lead at half time, Aqua outscored Heat in the third quarter, 11-2.
It was a dominant opening half from East Ringwood Goal Attack Maya Rundle that played a role in her side’s victory on Friday night in her first game for the club. She finished with 13 goals of the match, five goals in the first and fourth quarter. Rundle was well supported by Ashley Whitten, helping break open the game in the third quarter.
Whilst some fresh faces coming in for East Ringwood, the defensive end in Liv Anderson and Kayla Earsman gelled well as a unit, applying the pressure on the Heat shooters and combining nicely for some great intercepts.
Anderson was greatly backed up well in the midcourt.
Casey Hahn was impressive in her own right, especially moving to Goal Shooter in the second half, scoring 13 goals, while teammate had some great moment in the shooting circle.
Despite Heat trailing in the third quarter, Heat refused to not give up, winning the last quarter 9-6.
East Ringwood Aqua will take plenty of confidence from round one, going into round two against Coldstream Blue, whilst Montrose Heat face Fairpark Lions.
