InFocus 2023 | Ringwood

By Blake Tennant.

After another successful year for Ringwood making another Grand Final, the club heads into another season as one of the Division Two premiership favourites.

Last year was the club’s third Grand final since 2018. They’ve unfortunately not been able to capitalise on their home and away dominance they’ve had over the last five to six years.

But they’re hoping for another deep finals run this year to chase that elusive premiership.

Senior Coach Brett Rowe will continue as the senior coach of the Redbacks for another season, having done a fantastic job with the club.

Rowe has expectations are to make the finals once again, relying on their youth and see where it can take the side this season.

The young core group that Ringwood are building has been exciting for Rowe, with seven players under the age of 22, he is really excited to see how Jacob Broad, Josh Meercotter and Jett Latchford go this season after a great 2022 campaign,

“We want them to take that next step for this season,” Rowe said.

“It’s a really exciting time down at Jubliee Park this year.”

The one player that has stepped up in the pre-season stage would have to be Jacob Broad.

“Really showed his class last year, we want him to be a benchmark player for the side.”

The club have had an incredible run over the last several years and will continue to be the benchmark of the Division Two competition.

A new reign for Ringwood senior women side with Mark Clare the new senior coach.

Clare wants to capitalise on their season last year form into finals for the 2023 season.

Clare’s expectations are quite simple, to bring effort and consistency right through the whole season, from the first session to the last game, whenever that may be.

He is also happy about the build from within the community, promoting new players through social media and getting players to the club which has being the drive through the off-season.

Grace Ward is a player that Clare is looking forward to seeing and saying that

“Grace is going to play a lot of time in the midfield and wants to see her strive to be the best player in the competition”.
