EFL players will have a chance to prove if they have the best pectorals in the league this season via the Genesis Wantirna Push-Up King video competition.

The season-long competition, which will be shown on EFL TV throughout 2014, will see one representative from each club attempt to do as many push-ups as they can in one minute.

Only one player from each senior EFL club will be able to participate, meaning clubs will have to nominate their best set of pecs prior to filming.

EFL Media Team members will venture out to clubs on a training night to host, adjudicate and film the segment.

During the EFL’s “Choose Tap” finals series, the Push-Up King will hold its own finals, with the Grand Final to be held at Genesis Wantirna in Division 1 Grand Final week. The overall winner will receive a prize from the fitness club.

Genesis Wantirna Club General Manager Nicky Dean is excited to see some of the EFL’s best athletes be “pushed up” to their limits.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how competitive all the players are and who goes on to become the eventual winner. I’m sure there will be strong competition!” Dean said.

The video competition is part of a new partnership between Genesis Wantirna and the EFL, with the well-known fitness club joining the league as a support sponsor for the 2014 season.

“Genesis Fitness Wantirna wants to support the local community and the Eastern Football League is certainly a pillar of the Eastern suburbs community,” Dean said.

EFL CEO Phil Murton believes Genesis Wantirna is a perfect fit for the league.

“Both organisations are trying to create healthier individuals and communities,” he said.

“Lots of EFL players and clubs already use their facilities, so we look forward to working with them to showcase their wonderful facilities to even more people in the EFL community.

“Being next door, they are synonymous with us. As neighbours with like-minded businesses, we look forward to a long relationship.”

Genesis Wantirna is located at 258 Scoresby Road, Boronia – right next door to EFL House. To get in touch, call 9762 8333 or visit
