Congratulations and best of luck to all teams, players, coaches, and officials for making it to their respective Grand Finals. The rebound from COVID-19 has not been without its challenges but the resilience of our clubs, committees, volunteers, and players has shone through.

This weekend Boronia and Mitcham will host Grand Finals, host clubs along with their volunteers have done an amazing job providing their facilities and hospitality to the competing clubs and all those who attend the finals. Without the support of our host clubs the finals simply would not come to fruition.

Our umpires play a key role on Grand Final Day and for them this will be a milestone in their umpiring journey. Last night I had the pleasure of attending The Bounce, the EFLUA awards night. The night includes the upcoming Grand Final panel appointments and all appointments for completed Senior Grand Finals are recognised. The mood in the room was incredibly positive and our umpiring group should be very satisfied with their achievements this season.

The season is heading towards completion with the Chandler Medal night being held in the lead up to the Premier Grand Final on Wednesday. This year it will bring together all Senior participants and will recognise the achievements of individuals over the course of the season. Team of the year announcements will be made via social media in the days leading up to the Chandler Medal night.

To the Clubs that tasted premiership glory last weekend a big congratulations. At Heathmont Netball Centre large crowds attended the netball section One – Four Grand Finals. Winners on the night were East Ringwood, Coldstream, East Ringwood, and Nunawading.

In the Division Four Senior Men’s competition Silvan won the Seniors in a close game with Surrey Park and Surrey Park won the reserves Grand Final. In Division Three the Waverley Blues won by two points over Donvale, in the Reserves the Waverley Blues won a drawn, overtime, golden point classic by one point and Warrandyte won the U19’s. Congratulations to the winning teams/clubs.

Good luck to all teams and remember, whether you’re a player, official or supporter, please ensure you behave yourself in an appropriate manner so that everyone that attends the Grand Final has a wonderful day. There is no place for any abuse towards umpires, players, and spectators at any EFNL matches. Best of luck to all participating teams and enjoy a weekend full of community football.
